MatchPlay – HTML 5

Match.com Project: MatchPlay

Completion Date: August 2014

Goal

To create a new method of communication between users on Match.com under the guise of games as an initiator.

Overview

MatchPlay offers users a way to send asynchronous game invitations to their matches. The games act as icebreakers, helping to start conversations between users.

My Roll

As a designer, I led the initial design team behind MatchPlay, researching social gaming trends, and using my research to build the initial UI design of the game lobby (above) and game selection screens. I also created the concepts and designs behind all four launch games including managing design documents and working with artists to create the visual looks of each game.

Below are examples of features and games I worked on that have been tested amongst Match.com users.

Have You Ever

         – Players discuss outrageous activities they've done or wish to do.
         – I created the concept and design document for this game, as well mocked up an initial UI.
         – This game was designed to make users appear more interesting.

Love It or Hate It

         – Players take a stand on subjects whether they like them or not.
         – I created the concept and design document for this game, as well mocked up an initial UI.
         – I assisted the artist in designing the final look of the game.

Relationship Essentials

         – Players consider the most important essentials of a romantic partner.
         – I created the concept and design document for this game, as well mocked up an initial UI.

If I Could

         – Players answer hypothetical questions about their personality together.
         – I took the concept behind the Game Night version of this game and changed the UI to fit an asynch setting.
